GW for Macs anytime soon?
Hey I have a PC but recently bought a Mac laptop. Any development underway to make GW Mac friendly so I can play it anywhere? I would pretty much love it. Anyone know 'bout this? WoW has already made this move so I know it's possible... Anyways I didn't see this question in any of the FAQs or on the main site so here I am.

Sadly there is no support for Mac at this moment. However if your Macbook have an Intel CPU, you can run a Bootcamp which will allow you to install/run Windows XP, therefor allow you to use all of the windows software.
Keep in mind that Bootcamp still in it beta last time I look, but a lot of people are happily using it right now. I hope this help. |

Voice One: Hello, I a Mac.
Voice Two: And, I'm a PC. Voice One: I am so busy being perfect in everything I do, the gaming industry still won't release games for my platform. Voice Two: Well, us PC's have to have something to do since we aren't as productive as you Macs. Actually, this is the first I heard that Guild Wars didn't have a Mac version. Is it just way too cost prohibitive for ANet, or something? |

I have seen a fair few games that have mac/pc versions, how ever its usually down the the game developers (soz about spelling) to make the the new client. If they feel there isnt the market then they wont devolope/debug(alpha/beta etc) which is really fair coz it aint cheap to go through that cycle.

LOL @ Kuldebar
I'm using Mac at work and a pc at home. The thing about Mac is, it does look nice, it easy to use out of the box, But it's so annoying when it did break down and none of the IT guys know what to do with it, so call out for apple engineer which cost a bomb. Not to mentions hard to upgrade both software and hardware, I mean if you want to upgrade rams, you have to drag it to the apple shop. And those stupid OS which come out every year or so it seem. And lastly I can't get my Snes or Megadrive emulators to work on any Mac at work! stupid thing. /Rant end |

Yeah I have heard of bootcamp and something that is called parallels for Mac but I am reluctant to open up my Mac to the same issues a PC would have which is what I'd do if I got either I'd be curious as to how lucrative such a move would be for the GW team to make. I mean I know WoW did it but the are a frelling megolith in this industry to my knowledge; they prolly just did it to pick up that extra small percentage of people who own JUST a Mac. Meh. I have both but I want it for Mac so bad lol.

its a double edged sword with macs at the moment. the reason why they are so secure and virus free atm is because its not worth it to a virus coder to write a virus for a mac when the majority of the market is still in PCs. eventually, when Macs gain more market value, malware will start popping up with macs.
in the same way, few game makers program games for macs just because most people who play games still use PCs. |
